I guess with some help and interaction we can find out how to handle large documents. I'm not sure how to go about it with multiple files, but according to the discussion on the forum, the "modern" way to split a document is not to have multiple files (this I guess is the way inherited from the TeX legacy) but to have a single document with multiple parts and then select one of the parts in the Document menu. I use local packages without problem, just have a ".ts" file in your directory and it should work. I do not use multifile myself, but there is currently a discussion on the forum about it, in general I would suggest you to use the forum (unless you have a specific reason not to do it) to post these general questions since they can be searched for by other users later.
